My Artwork
I'm a textile artist that lives in the North East.
I love exploring the legacy of how embroidery, textiles and quilting has been viewed as ‘women’s work’, how it’s devalued by the art world as ‘craft’ as opposed to ‘art’. I’m interested in subverting these stereotypes and how my work can create these conversations.
This video takes you through the making process and emotional journey of my ADHD experience.
This video talks about making the artwork and my experience of perimenopause.
This video talks about the water goddess Coventina and the research behind my artwork.
Social messages, a sense of injustice, rage and my experiences.
I draw on these emotions and put them into my work.
I love textiles and often use free machine embroidery in my work. I also mix media with painting, printing and use recycled materials.
I journal a great deal, visually and in written form. I love the work of artists such as Grayson Perry, and Tracy Emin. I am interested in narrative and storytelling in my work alongside social issues.
